Just another check in…How are you guys doing? Thank you for being here!
I have finished the first 12 chapters of my ongoing fictional memoir, “Where the Sunbeams End.” I’m calling this the end of part 1. As I consider how to proceed into part 2 I remembered that I hadn’t really shared a small secret about the story so far.
Some of you may have noticed the trend. But, in case you didn’t pick up on it…My fictional memoir features chapter titles taken from song lyrics or song names. Here is the playlist for part 1. I invite you to give me a read while taking in this playlist. You can read first and then listen, or listen first and then read. Or if you dare…read while you listen. But, these songs go with part 1 of “Where the Sunbeams End.” I thank all of the musical artists for any inspiration I may have stolen from their work.
In my library A Fan's Notes is shelved in fiction. Which is where most "memoirs" ought to be : ) Your honesty is refreshing, Peter. Rare for any writer.
Hey Kathleen, thanks for stopping by and dropping me a line :) I hope you enjoy the playlist and obviously the chapters themselves. I'm interested to know how combining the music with the story works for folks.
Very kind of you but mine is very sparse. I’m spending my writing energy these days working on a series of picture books in memory of my son. Working FT as a RPh plus working Holistic fairs on the weekend as a medical intuitive takes just about all of my energy. I’m hoping to cut back to PT by next summer, if things go as planned. My home repairs and vet bills keep changing my best laid plans!
i like the idea of this playlist while writing...and while reading as a break between reading a story.what a great idea! thank you for this invite to an adventure as a reader.
Good playlist...short and sweet? As someone who grew up creating mix tapes...I must say I enjoy this short mix.
I only know the last three on your playlist. I guess that (out)dates me.
Oh that's ok, this list isn't exactly everyone's cup of tea. However, I do enjoy how these songs go along with part 1 of my story.
Thank you so much for sharing you words and now your sweet playlist Pete! I hope we run into one another again soon. - K
Fictional memoir? Where's that going to be shelved at the library? : )
I think I started using the term after stumbling upon Frederick Exley's "A Fan's Notes." Another so called fictional memoir.

Thanks for reading and for your words of encouragement! It means a lot.
This Magic Moment...guy had a voice for sure. And Hotel California, I mean, oh yeah.
Bring a huge music fan, I absolutely love this idea for naming your chapters! Will def read while listening. 👏🏻 👀 👂

My musical palate is quite diverse - I like your choices - anxious to listen and read. After my long shift tonight.
Don't work too hard! :) Looking forward to checking out your page too!

Yikes! I think I only know Hotel California! Is that really bad?! I know lots and lots of other songs though, I promise 🙈
Nope, it's not bad at all. But maybe you'll enjoy some of the other songs...I hope so ❤️
I will have a listen and probably recognise some of them! Are they on a Spotify Playlist?
I probably should make a Spotify playlist! But the links are just to each individual song on Youtube.
